This morning Pete and I went to Copper Valley Electric Company to assess an avalanche slope behind one of their hydroelectric power plants. We will create an avalanche hazard plan and standard operating procedure for when the avalanche hazard increases during the winter. It’s refreshing to focus on the slope scale instead of the regional scale I am used to with our backcountry forecasts, it just seems much more manageable.
After our morning meeting we caught this light over Valdez at about 10:30 AM this morning. Valdez is at the base of the large valley which holds Mineral Creek in the left of the picture.
