With this new month, comes a few new changes. We’ve been downsizing, organizing and sorting, prepping for the next chapter in our life book.
A few weeks ago now, we bid a sweet farewell to our cozy abode and warmly welcomed a small, lovely space in our friends’ apartment across town. We decided in April that we would find a cheaper place to live, even if that meant camping around town. For weeks, we tabled several different options; this one seemed the most fitting for our work schedules and our finances – still close to downtown Golden and an easier commute to work for me.
Our hope is that this move will allow us to be more proactive in paying off our student loans and enable us to put more monies in to our savings each month. Our little bedroom in the basement with a unique full bath fits the bill perfectly. The transition was seamless (our easiest move yet) and we are so grateful to be spending about $500 less each month in rent. This money will come in handy over the next several weeks, as Ethan’s employment with CAIC has ended for the season and he will take a substantial pay cut in his summer work with Avid4Adventure.
Although timing wasn’t the best, we are settled in now and feeling good about our recent move. We’ve cleaned and downsized considerably, which has been liberating in many ways. Likely, our new home will be temporary, carrying us through the summer months until we can find a cheaper place to move to in the fall. For now, we are excited about the possibilities of what’s to come. On to the next chapter!
